In life, we/you/me have been taught a lot of things. We grow up and we are taught how to behave. We go to school we are taught an education. Experience teaches us how to survive. Were you taught emotional intelligence when you were growing up?

Emotional social growth is what my kids school teach it started just before just before Covid got to help younger children understand there emotions and what they mean. We also practice in our house that it’s okay to feel what we feel but it’s not okay to yell or hit. But when I was growing up we where not taught it I the 90’s and early 00’s. Also it doesn’t help my husband worked as a nurse in mental health for a few years so that has also helped us learn how to be better parents with our kids and letting them just go with the flow.

My parents and my school gave me a good amount of emotional intelligence. I'm grateful.

Yes, I was in a way. I struggled a lot with it, but I did learn it. I had to learn how to stand on my own in all aspects.

No, I have not been taught that. But nowadays I recognise it would have been a great plus

No, no such concept as emotional intelligence in my school days. We tested our IQ only, But now we know EQ is actually more important.

In my day, education was mostly about intellect. These days, the importance of balancing intellect with emotional maturity is important too. Intellect is seen to be deficient, in some ways now, if emotional intelligence is not a part of its equation too. Emotion, on its own, can lead to foolish behaviour, and so emotion has to be linked to intellect too, and balanced with intellect in its proper display.

No, but I wish I had been. Most people come from dysfunctional homes and don't know how to deal with all that pain that settle in their hearts.
