Short story: Love. Is love the goal of our life, or not?

The philosopher, Dudly Konrad, was lecturing to his University students about love. "Is love the goal of our life, or not?" he asked them this question. But, then he answered them like this: "Love, acquiring love, is not the goal of our lives." "This, if it was our goal, could be considered to be a me-first, selfish approach to love." "No, our goal is to fill every part of our lives with that love, that we already have, in spadesful, already inside of ourselves, but which just needs to be spaded out of us into the world around us." "God is love, and so in this sense, your goal in life is always to live with God in your life, not without him, but as love fills your heart already, you are connected to God already too, whether you know this, or you don't". "The goal of life then is to move love from yourself, via God, out into a world, sorely in need of receiving it from you." "We understand God's love when we give it out, and when we see the results of that giving." "Here is a quote from that great Chinese Philosopher, Lao Tzu." '"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage."' "When you feel God's love, this gives you real strength too, and loving someone deeply from that same love gives you courage." "None of us has the courage first to love, because courage only comes from the giving out of that love that God has placed within each one of us to give out to others, each in our own unique of ways." "Love first, and courage comes to you, builds itself in you, of itself." "Ok, my lecture is finished. Have a good day. Remember to love." I agree with you regarding love. Love is not the goal in our life but love shall be within you. When you help someone, this means you have love within you. Love cannot be separated from God. God is love. When you take a pity on someone that needs help. You have God within you.

Thanks, nicely put. Yes, being a good neighbour to someone else, and helping them is loving them, and that is what God wants us to do too. When we love another, helping them, in this way, we are loving God then too.

Thanks. I like to write up my "lectures" as a short story, as they do not come across as lecturing so much then, I think too...lol...

@RubyHawk Yes. It is not me saying it, it is the character in my story saying it. So, people can't argue with me, just with the points made by my character.....

A life bereft of love is an empty ride that dissipates in the end into an empty void not touching others positively On the other hand, a life of being loved and loving is worth every moment as it is enriching and empowering. Once we take the path of love, we have paved the way for life that is rewarding to us and others too we touch through love. Let us empower our lives with love.

We are all on the same path of love. We just take different tracks along its all-encompassing path. We need to recognise, and acknowledge, the love that is all around us, and which is right under our feet, our lives, at all times, supporting us, directing/guiding us, if we value it, and allow it to do so. We need to align ourselves from love, with love, and stop turning our backs on the love that is in our lives, all of the time, if we allow it to be so.

@Shiva49 Hard to do in an insecure world, full of the fears of living, though. We all put our security first, our health needs, our money needs, our family needs, way ahead of any needs, to love others altruistically.

@innertalks Yes, I have felt people yearning for love and how they are touched when love is showered on them. When I embrace them as a fellow human being, they sometimes react whether it is real. In fact, our world will be heaven if we put love above selfishness and ego.

Yes, thanks. Love is the most powerful power in the Universe, for after all, God is love, they say too.

I agree we should share the love of God with others, and great courage is needed.

Yes, we often fear loving fully, and it takes great strength of character to love, despite our fears, and reservations.
