Do you think a death sentence is valid?

Is a death sentence applicable in your country? What do you think of this sentence? Most people say that violence should not be rewarded with another violence, but do you think an eye for an eye is justified in some criminal instances. For me, when a person dies, he will not be able to repent or suffer from his/her sins. Death is actually an escape from the consequences of one's actions, However, if the person is allowed to live, his/her conscience will bug him in return until his/her natural death. That would be more difficult. Furthermore, everyone deserves a second chance. a miracle could happen and the person may change for the better. What are your thoughts on this?

I struggle with this. I realize it's sometimes deserved when it's clear and concise and no doubt has to heinous crimes, such as serial killers or Ted Bundy type of killers. I do know that it has been proven that some have been executed and ended up being found innocent after all later on.

That's why considering the sentence is a must in these cases when there's even an inch of doubt. How sad for these innocent people. Has there been a case like that in your area?

@Jenaisle I only know of ones I have read about from time to time or heard on news stations.

I think it all depends on the atrocity of the crime. Some people never change

@Nawsheen For people not expected to change that must be a valid reason. But who can ever foretell the future? If a tested personality test can be given to find out, perhaps. But there's nothing permanent in this world but CHANGE.

It all depends. But not everybody deserves a second chance.

@Jenaisle Still I would make the jail inmates earn their keep.

I think some people actually deserve it, but who am I to judge?

I like what you said: "Who am I to judge?" I ask myself the same thing at times.

I don't know, when I was younger I was completely against it, but sometimes people do things so vile that I'm just not sure.

Not valid but I would be okay with it. unfortunately our justice system is not good so innocent people might get that sentence which would be awful.
