An American pit bull mixed breed female named Jill came to the Clay County Animal Shelter in Henrietta Texas 10 years ago a stray dog who suffered from heartworms that was close of ending her life.
After Jill was given medical treatment at the animal shelter, she was available to be adopted by a loving person who wanted to adopt her.
The problem was that since Jill was a Pit Bull, no landlord wanted that breed of dog in their home or building.
Jill was able to stay alive inside of the animal shelter in Henrietta since the shelter has a no kill policy.
Jill had the greatest gift of her lifetime when on the Fourth Of July, Keelie Blassingame came to the animal shelter in hopes of adopting Jill as her new best friend for life.
Keelie went to seek approval from her landlord who after seeing Jill in person, granted Keelie her permission to have Jill as a member of her home for life.
Better late than never in this case.

That is true since it is a shame that Jill being a pit bull was not allowed to be adopted because of her being a pit bull.

@RubyHawk That is a good question since some politicians give in to the demand of special interests group to ban pit bulls from their community.

@Deepizzaguy I wonder why they don’t allow pit bulls to be adopted. Many people have pit bulls for pets.

10 years inside of an animal shelter is a very long time to the point that the employees inside of the shelter are going to miss Jill but they are happy to learn that Jill will be living with a new owner.

My late mom said that it is how a dog is raised by an owner that determines if they are sweet or bad.

@kobesbuddy That is true since one of my previous dogs who was a German Shepherd mix hated males since his previous owner who was males abused him.

@Deepizzaguy Any dog will turn mean, if they are abused and treated mean.

No dog should ever have to spend 10 years in a shelter. That makes me want to cry. I'm glad Jill now has a loving home.

I know what you mean the dog must have felt depressed being inside of an animal shelter for a long period of time just because of her being a pit bull.

So am I since despite being a pit bull, Jill has a right to live with an owner who will care for her for the remainder of her life.
