Just a tip of the iceberg

What you see in the photo is a small part of what grew on that full jack fruit tree. But we hardly got to use any of them . They came to maturity in the rainy season and there is no demand for jack fruits that mature when water falls on them We did consume a few and distributed them to some neighbours and others when the rain was not so heavy. But the remaining fruits got rotten and just filled the compost pits.

Oh that is a lot of jack fruit. I think you can eat that on a limited amount else you can have problems digesting it and at times gets you to be constipated if you eat a lot of it. It is sad that other fruits would go to the compost pit. I think everything is consumed in the fruit except the cover. The fruits can be sweetened and preserved same goes for the seeds which they boil and eat as well.

@allknowing Oh that is great but eating them all year round seems a bit too much for me. I love eating them occasionally but regularly I think I could not.

What we normally do is cut a couple of them remove the flesh, make small packets and freeze. We eat that the whole year making various snacks

I've never had a jack fruit, what are they used for? Do you eat them just off the tree?

That's a great shame that you don't get to use the jack fruits.

At least in the compost they will contribute to the better yield of other crops.

These are a lot of jack fruits. Perhaps removing a few of them from the tree will make the remain jack fruits grow well.

In my neighborhood, I also find a few trees as in your photo. Not many are interested in the fruit. I don't know why.

This is the first year because they come up during the monsoon. Usually they get ready by May

Do you sell jack fruits? I don't like ripe jack fruits. I like the curry of the raw ones.

I have seen jackfruit in tins for sale. I had never seen what one looked like, though.
