Emerging pineapple

It takes almost a year for a pineapple to show up on the plant. These days however we have not seen them till maturity as the mongoose gets them even before they are ripe.
While we are happy that we have mongooses roaming the garden as they keep the reptiles away they dig up the garden specially anything that grows underground as well.
We have now planted the pineapple in an enclosed area where the mongoose has no access.

Is it true that you can have a pineapple plant made with part of the pineapple?

The top leafy portion of the pineapple is planted and that is how we grow our pineapples.

What a lovely fruit. I had planted 3 pineapples on 3 large buckets but It seems I could not get them to fruit. We don't have mongoose in our country, cats are the main problem of my plants but I don't think they would even dare go near those sharp spines.

What could be the reason why there were no fruits? Pineapples need very little maintenance.

@allknowing perhaps it's asking to be transferred to an even bigger container, I had tried putting organic fertilizer that I made myself but still no sign of fruiting.

Pineapples are popular here. Our pineapples are mainly imported from Taiwan.

@allknowing I'd love to try growing some here, even though I'm not fond of pineapples. Pretty loves them, though. We just don't have room in our house to grow something like that.

That's cool that you have mongooses and it's even cooler that they kill and eat snakes. I love your little pineapple, it is so cute.

What's so "cool" about the mongoose eating our pineapple?
