Bremer County Sheriff's Deputy Jackson Smith was working a security detail at the Bremer County Fair on Tuesday overnight when a cow named Scarlet ran away from her home inside of a barn and flee into the fairgrounds. The incident happened around 3 o'clock in the morning when Deputy Smith doing his duty to chase Scarlet on the fairgrounds section and being able to capture her and return her to her home safe and sound. Emily Manweiler is grateful that Deputy Smith was able to save her cow from causing any damage to the property and harm anyone. When any police officer joins the force, one of the requirements is to be able to have the stamina of a long distance runner when an officer has to chase down a crook or animal.

Did they charge her with resisting arrest?

Scarlet was not charged with any criminal charges since she peacefully went to her barn with the deputy without any incident.

That must have been some race chasing down a cow. That would take stamina. Poor cow thought she was running away to freedom.

That is the most likely scenario that the cow wanted to get out of her stable and run away.

@RubyHawk I know if I were in the skin of the cow, I would like to get out of the barn for a quick run.

That is true since the cow could have caused a panic in the county that night before the dawn.

Cows and other livestock can usually run farther and faster than humans. The deputy did well to catch the cow.

Glad he was able to get the cow back into the safety of the stable without it causing any damage. We don't pay our officers enough money.

That is true since a former police officer who worked on a radio station in New Orleans mentioned that police officers make little pay for the hard work they do.

Deputy Smith was happy to do his job to the best of his ability and save the cow from getting hurt in the fairgrounds.
