Training up a child

Training up a child "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Prov. 22:6.) It's very fitting and applicable to parents who are raising their kids. This is the context of the Pastor's homily during the 1st birthday bash of my wife's grandson at the Tabernacle Baptist Church where we attended recently. It's a good family gathering we had had. It strengthens our family bonding. Luke Lyfer is so blessed for his momentous birthday celebration and his loving parents Wemer Von and Ilene are so happy for him. Ilene is my wife's niece. The youngest daughter of my wife's eldest sister.

Parents seem distracted by other things nowadays. I wish it was like it was in the 50s and 60s.

Isn't your wife's niece your niece too by law? And so her grandson is also your grandson?

If only more people nowadays would raise their children according to the Bible.

Of course, parents also need to know the way that a child should go in, to do this. There is only one right way for anyone to go, and parents know this, and should direct their children along in this way too. This is God's way for them, putting God first, and obeying his commandments for living, loving, and respecting all, along the way.

For some parents are doing it perfectly but as the child becomes adult finds his way out of the norm and indulge in sinful ways.

@innertalks What an ideal father you got. I know you're happy of having such kind of a father. He never failed his spiritual role of molding you and your siblings according to the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Blessed are our children when diligent, wise and very brave parents do our duty in protecting, preserving Biblical values and precepts.

@Nakitakona Sometimes our adult children make wrong adult decisions. And it's not right to blame ourselves for what went wrong. In the end with prayer, compassion, constant love and grace from us, they will always learn and come back to the right path.
