Woodpeckers are pretty birds but when they visit us it does not give me joy as I know they will be busy pecking at dead wood.. Dead wood means a tree somewhere is dead and it is too late for us retrieve it. We have a big area and it is not always possible for us to check to see if any of our trees are eaten by termites so that we can do something before it is too late. We lost our yielding cashew tree years ago

I agree, they are beautiful birds, but I don't like the noise they make searching for the bugs under the bark and in the wood of the tree itself.

@allknowing I'm sure it's not. You love your garden and the trees are a big part of that.

I know we have them here too. But I seldom see them since I live in the city and there is not many trees around the city. I think they are good at hunting for insects or worms they see on trees.
