A Possible Pay Day Coming For Some of Us

After getting a notification from Housing saying our rent was going up and wondering how much our Section 8 voucher was going to help us I went to google for help. I figured maybe if Social Security recipients got a COLA (Cost Of Living Adjustment)in 2023 that would help. I see that our cable bill will go up $10 next month as well. Well, come to find out that we SS recipients could get a 10.5% raise in 2023. If so, it is the biggest increase since 1981. My fingers are crossed. Will your income go up any more in 2023? I read over my energy bill too and find that my Budget Pay account is going to be adjusted and, starting next month, my power bill will go down $3. Not much but, so much better than going up as I had feared. Every little bit helps.

I’m happy for you. My income will also increase at the end of the year. This company I’m working for (project based) increases the salary after 3 projects and I will finish my 3rd one by December and I signed on to do 6 more projects with them next year so I’m excited.

@celticeagle thank you! Yes I’m excited and also a little weary about it. I had deals like this before and they always try to change the terms when the increase comes in, but I’m wiser and bolder now lol and my contract is non negotiable so I’m more excited than weary this time.

$3 more for your groceries... A 10.5% raise is quite nice, too. My income won't go up but my debt load will go down as I'll have finally paid off my mortgage.

I have my fingers crossed for you, too! The cost of everything is going up, and it's especially messing with those that are on a fixed income. The prices of products in the grocery store has given me sticker shock, especially when the same product has gone up $2 in one week!

The prices in the grocery store are awful. I want to eat well but how can you? It's getting harder all of the time. I remember trying to get some strawberries. I had to pay $15 and that was so outrageous for one bag of frozen strawberries. I just got a flat of them for half of that. Just have to pay attention nowadays. I guess I wasn't before.

I'm a retired employee and the SSS which pays me my measly pension monthly, promises to increase but it's only a promise.

I hope you get that 10.5% raise in 2023. It is based on the last three months of the year. Everything seems to be going up.

My rent has already gone up and most likely my utility bills will go up too. I’m glad you’re getting some help.
