They just went off and mostly young ones, probably just startled.Hopefully did the smart thing My bad I am leaving. I do not know I walked my dogs late at night and had a coyote follow us because was getting close and that fool made sure we turned around.
Coyotes actually pretty respectful when they feel they will lose.
You could hear the young bucks OK, buddy, I gotcha. Homeless people sneak all around the dry river bed for a place to sleep. I do not know why else you would hear that and high pitched meaning they are distressed. Warning shots are much deeper. They also scavenge for food this time a night and could be just the females. if that is the case male is not gonna be happy.
That guy is cool, I saw him one time at stop light. The way he had them lined up was neat. Very stealthy. quick yep, you move here , yep, another one moved to their position. had like 5 of those fools and just runs down street with the five in their strategic positions so no one would mess with them.
He even knew I was there, He knew I knew.

If you had one of or both puppies with you, he was hoping you'd ignore him and his family.

I was in the yard then. They were not out and you are correct it would have changed his attitude. I saw one measuring up Brooklyn one time but looks over at Kai she to big I am outta here. That was a all black one the street director was grayish like a typical coyote.
Thats the thing who knows how many packs there is? I am betting more than one so probably more than one alpha.

@crossbones27 How many packs and how big the packs are depends on the size of the area we're talking about. (I've seen research that claims urban packs can have anywhere from 2 square miles to a bit over 4 square miles, depending on how much food is normally available.)
I'm not terribly happy about how aggressive they can get if there aren't any dogs around to warn them off. Pretty still goes out jogging late at night by herself.

@DaddyEvil I am not sure. I always thought just one but been a decade plus and one time another big black one I mean big. The size of my alpha German Shepherd and he a true a alpha, not like Kai. This guy just runs by all goofy like and Tristan was way out there and he not no alpha but could tell he did not want no part of Tristan. Just trying to get home buddy. It was rather cool and reasonable. I can work with that.
