There is a movie called "Horrible Bosses" that came out in 2011. There was even a sequel I guess. The plot is relatively obvious. But, I was looking on the tv schedule earlier and saw this movie listed. It made me think about a boss I worked for back in the 90s. About nine years with a boss who was a real piece of work. It was a non-profit and a lot of the employees had handicaps. The boss was oblivious to this fact. She expected things done in a certain time frame and it was "her way or the highway".
At one point she had been assigned to go to another office that was opening and train the new manager there. This meant that she had to leave someone in charge of her office. The one gal that had been the night manager of her office had quit so she left me in charge. (I had been there the longest) I just did what needed to be done and when she checked in I had it all done. This didn't make her happy. Oh, it should of but, but she didn't like having someone that was competent left in charge. She liked being able to tell me what to do and treat me like I was deficient. She couldn't cause I already had done it all. In her mind, nobody knew how to do anything but her. She got back and I was put back on the floor. She didn't want me in the office cause I knew what was what.
While she was gone I noticed some oddities and started checking time cards. This new guy had gotten really chummy with her and some things that transpired made me wonder. I noticed that he started being out of the office when she was in the office yet he had time on his time card. He hadn't been in the office but yet he was getting timed in and out as if he was. FRAUD!! Come to find out he was babysitting her daughter and getting paid on the non-profit's dime.
I checked his time card for several weeks. I made copies of each time card and kept careful track. I thought it over for quite a while before I acted. I know I probably shouldn't have but, I decided this needed to be handled and I went to the big boss with my proof. He did absolutely nothing! Why? Because he liked having everything look so good on paper whether it was legit or not.
You can wager I was even lower on her list after that happened. She treated me badly to say the very least. Even worse than she treated the other employees. She couldn't fire me because I would make it all public. She did everything she could get away with to make my life at work a living hell, however.
I was disgusted and a few months later I quit.

If you do not walk in step with the desires of the company, you are branded as an evil person for doing the right thing.

I was appalled that a non-profit would have such evil in their hierarchy.

@celticeagle I know what you mean since I can understand a major corporation acting that way. Not a not for profit company.

Really funny.
I've had my share of horrible bosses. Walked out on them as soon as I can.

I had a very bad boss too. He took credit for work I did for him and treated me like I didn't know what I was doing. I stayed 10 years until I was eligible for my pension. I don't know how I made it that long.
