Savennah Mendes-Rodigues who is 19 years of age is being praised by the family of a two year old boy who nearly drowned when he fell into a swimming pool on Monday morning with his relatives being with him at that time.
Savennah who has been trained in using CPR in her past rushed from the kitchen in her parents home in Abington Massachusetts to use chest compressions on the toddler to the Bee Gees hit song "Stayin Alive." until the first responders arrived to take the toddler to a local hospital where he is expected to make a full recovery.
What I am impressed with the actions of Savennah who is studying to be a dentist is that she remained calm when she used her life first aid skills to revive the two year old boy who was barely breathing while his parents had called 911 from the home after the boy had been taking out of the swimming pool into the home where he was placed on the floor.
Savennnah admitted that she has had feelings that her training in first aid techniques was not going to be needed. Thank goodness she never gave up practicing her first aid training since her work to save a life does not take an off day.
One thing I have to learn is not to stereotype teenagers who are not old enough to remember the Bee Gees who during their prime singing career were lampooned by haters of Disco music.
My hope is that Savennah is able to have her dream come true to be a dentist and that she keeps on learning how to use first aid skills since she will be a great savior for someone who will need her assistance in the future.

Savannah admits that she was at the right place at the right time. She is going to be a special person as an adult using her first aid skills to save lives.

Glad to hear Savennah was there at the right time and knew CPR. Many don't.

@celticeagle It really is since I know the saying "How you react in trouble determines your success or failure."

Glad she was able to save the child but it sounds like laws should be passed that grownup need to watch their small children closer near pools and to learn how to revive them if anything happens,

You have a good point of passing a law requiring adults to learn first aid skills to help their children to save lives.

Yes indeed because her practicing CPR and getting her license to practice did pay off at last.

A rescuer should maintain the presence of mind and calmness of emotion. Anybody won't be qualified to be a rescuer if he or she's not mindedly stable.

I have read stories on the internet that any person who works on assisting someone who is in need of being rescued from an accident scene needs to be calm in doing the work of helping the accident victim to recover since fear does block out the concentrate process.

I am sure that the family of the two year old boy that Savannah saved will thank her for her act of heroism.
