Technology: A Blessing or a Curse?

It was my last call to be audited for today. I've listened to a call, the agent was doing a great job in sending a confirmation email for the caller. The rep was building good rapport to the caller and the caller agrees to each ideas they're sharing back and forth. Then suddenly; the caller said about a Chinese Proverb saying "May you live in interesting times". This has something to do with our times right now. It is both blessing and a curse. This made me realized; what we are having recently is too convenient. It really made our lives easier. But this innovation to improve sometimes makes us forget the sense of being human; since everything is 'too convenient'. What do you think about our times right now where we live in everything that is running digital? Internet banking, smart phones, smart appliances, apps, etc. Does it really benefits us to begin with or is it a curse?

I agree though, it is both good and bad for us. We miss out on a lot of life outside of the net.

I agree! What happened with the outdoor life? We missed those kinds of opportunities as we live in this digital world. Ah, the fascinating outdoor life is still one of the best things that we shouldn't miss. We only have one planet, right? I've also noticed that kids these days doesn't have that much interest in camping in the wilderness and they would rather spend their time on cellphones and gadgets.

I do think, for the younger generation, it is a bit of a crutch. Maybe they eventually grow out of some of it and realize the joys of life and all the things that make it precious. But I don't know. The more "connected" we all become the more detached we actually are. From life. From people. And certainly from reality.

Exactly, especially the younger generation nowadays. Money, luxury, expensive and latest gadgets, etc. They tend to show off a lot online and that creates a delusion to the audience. Everything you see online is definitely not real anymore. It also creates insecurities among others because they are seeing things that is unattainable in reality to begin with.

@resy21curapika The Internet has become a very big place for fakers and pretenders. That's for sure.

That is accurate; it brings both good and terrible into our life. Although it makes life simpler, it can also cause sadness and annoyance when our accounts are easily stolen and taken from us. But I've always thought that technology itself has nothing to do with good or bad; rather, it's how people use it that determines whether it's good or harmful.

" Technology: A Blessing or a Curse?" I think it's up to us to make it to what we want it to become, technology is just there and people still has the control in my opinion

Yeah, just like in the "Terminator" or some dystopic movies where it shows technology ruins humanity. Do you know some movies like that as well? Let me know in the comments

I agree with you. There's always a pros and cons when it comes to these things. Take social media for example. You have to use it moderately. If you share too much online, it could compromise your privacy and safety. But you can never go wrong in sharing online a bit especially when it comes to sharing ideas and such. Everything in moderation as they say

It is a blessing to use technology in order to learn new things. It is a curse when the person speaking on social media uses insults to get their point across in a disagreement.

Saying one's point of view is easier online rather than speaking up in rallies or debates. Nowadays, it is easier to speak up with some typing done in a keyboard or a 20-second video. Things are really speeding up when it comes to sharing thoughts or ideas.

It's good and bad old folks don't get and young folks handle like a Rubic cube.

As humans we do try to evolve in an effort to make our lives easier, particularly since differently abled people aren't so small anymore. However, we need to find that balance sometimes.
