Ailments and depression and deprivation.

One of my cousin sister is laid down by a number of ailments. She recently suffered a brain stroke, suffers from diabetes, had to get her toe finger amputated and had to go through a plastic surgery. Today she is in bed and can't walk. She has to depend on her drunkard husband to take her to the doctor according to his whims. She is always in mental stress. Though not highly qualified she had acquired lessons in batik painting and applic work and is very good at it. She tried to start her own business but people took advantage of her simplicity and cheated her of her dues. She had no other way but to be at the mercy of her torturous husband. My aunt has left some assets in her name which her husband wants to encash and transfer in his name. She knows he is waiting for my aunt to die and then play a trick and the money from my cousin. She apprehends torture after mother's death and is in depression. She often calls me to vent out her sorrows. As her elder sister I give her a patient hearing. That's all I can do and give her hope to live on as long as God wants her to. She is leading a deprived life since she was a young girl. I wish she had a good source of earning and didn't have to depend on such a nut. She can't get a divorce for she has no where to go. My aunt is too old and has to stay with her younger daughter.

I myself am a heart patient and can't move around to support her. She has to fight for her rights as her husband is a drunkard and misbehaves with every relative.

I do have my own problems too and they are quite many too. I realize there are others who are suffering too. Keep praying and asking God to sustain her

This is terribly distressing for her. What a pity people suffer this way. You are very good to listen..she needs that.

@aninditasen You are doing right to tell her this. I hope one day she may be free of this.

@RebeccasFarm Yes, one day she will find a way out. Maybe use her talents to become financially independent.

These kind of husbands need to be taught a lesson. I hope something good happens with her so that she can live the rest of her life better.

What lesson can she teach when she is dependent on her husband financially? Had she her own earnings things would have been different.

@aninditasen I am not saying that she has to teach. But I wish someone or something comes into her life to punish his husband for his wrongdoings

That's sad to hear. Is it possible for her to get some freelance work to do?

She is a school dropout and not that tech savvy which is essential for a freelancer.

She is bed ridden now and can't walk. What can a transport do? Her husband has arranged the medical assistance as he feels like.

With all of her health problems, she needs care. Look up Adult Protective Services for her area and try to find her some. She doesn't have to stay in that exact situation, Authorities can come down on his sorry butt and make him leave if he can't behave decently and is cruel and neglectful to her.

I don't think we have any such services in India. Moreover he is meeting out the expenses of her treatment so he can't be thrown out of the house.
