I love trying different herbal teas. Some are not too good, but most that I have tried, I really like. One of the teas I drink often is hibisicus tea. I have a friend from Mexico, who always calls it Jamaica. At first I didn't know what he was talking about. I asked him why they called it Jamaica when it was made from hibiscus. He doesn't know. He just said that is what his grandmother always called it. Anyone have any idea why hibisicus tea is called Jamaica?

It is very simple, it is because hibiscus tea originated in Jamaica. I am Italian and we call this tea "karkadè

I wasn't aware that it originated in Jamaica. That makes sense, though. Thanks for the info.

@gnatsmom You are welcome. Often things get their name from the place they originated.
