An Interesting Theory or Scary to Think How Dumb Some People Really Are?

Ancient Greeks had known the Earth was round since 500 B.C. A philosopher named Pythagoras was the first to perceive this notion. Eratosthenes was the scientist who proved it by measuring the length of a stick during the solstice noon or when the shadow was shortest.
Samuel Shinto, in the 1950s, founded a small group called The Flat Earth Society with members who believed the world was actually flat. In 1972 Charles Kenneth Johnson took over the presidency of the society after Shenton's death. He transformed a collection of conspiracy theorists into an organization with thousands of members. He made statements in the media saying that people were being tricked by scientists into believing the world was round.
Are flat earthers really serious? Here are some of the things they believe:
Flat earthers don't believe there was a landing on the Moon or that any images from the Apollo 11 were made up by NASA and the government. Photos taken from satellites or planes high up in the sky have all been distorted and cannot be trusted.
According to flat earthers, the North Pole is actually the Center of the Earth.
From Live Science comes the statement:
"The leading flat-earther theory holds that Earth is a disc with the Arctic Circle in the center and Antarctica, a 150-foot-tall (45 meters) wall of ice, around the rim. NASA employees, they say, guard this ice wall to prevent people from climbing over and falling off the disc."
Flat earthers believe that during a solar eclipse the Moon would cast a larger shadow on the Earth if our planet was really round.
What are your thoughts on this subject?

Of course the North Pole is the centre of the Earth: that's where Santa lives!
Didn't know about the wall of ice around the rim.

I know the Earth is round, and it's been proven Tim and again. However, I believe people are entitled to their opinions, as long as they don't force them on others or harm others as a result. Flat Earthers sound harmless.

Yes, people are entitled to their opinion but how do I keep from laughing out loud when they spout their beliefs? They may be harmless but I hate to laugh at them.

@celticeagle Sometimes it's for a good laugh. We don't know these people, personally. While some might actually think in this way, others might do it for a good laugh. Just to watch the reactions of others. While others will purposely disagree, so someone else can't be right.

They can believe what they want; but we know the Earth is round.
