Most in India have maids and so do we We had 4 once when we shifted to this semi rural town what with creating a garden, maintaining the place and having loads of guests some spending days with us. I too have stories to tell about the maids we have had all these years. Now we have just one and a gardener who comes as and when we need him. My friend had a maid and she was giving her endless trouble. My friend said to her that she treats her like her younger sister, And that was the reply she got that you read in the title In the photo is one of our maids who worked for us for 10 plus years but we had to ask her to leave as she had far too many problems in her personal life.

When I was married to my first wife, we had a cleaning service that came in twice a week. After a few weeks, they started leaving us messages, telling us we needed to do more cleaning around the house or they would leave our employ. My wife called their management and asked if that was "normal" for a maid service... Their manager told us we shouldn't be doing any cleaning because that's why we paid them. When we got another message from the maids, we called the manager again and told him that if we had to clean our own house, we didn't need them anymore.

@allknowing My wife wanted to try another service but I told her that if the next maids were rude like that, we didn't need them. She checked with friends and they told us that all the maid services expected us to clean the house and they would "touch up" whatever was left. We didn't hire any more maid services.

@DaddyEvil That is not how it is here. Our maids do the entire work themselves.

I’ve always have a cleaning lady or more as I call them. My mother always had live-in help. Some I had dismiss and others found work closer to where they lived. Lots of stories, too, over the years.
