Assistant Principal saves the life of a student who choked on food during lunch

Betty Jane Community Learning Center assistant principal Darby Baumberger was at the right place at the right time on Monday morning when she was at the lunch section of the school picking up the trash when she heard one of her students named Arthur Clark who is a fourth grader started to cough after he made the error of talking at the same time he was eating a corndog. When Darby saw that Arthur who is nine years of age started coughing she used the Heimlich maneuver on Arthur on him to remove the corn dog out of his mouth on the fourth try. Ashley Howell who is the mother of Arthur is grateful that Darby who took up the practice of using the Heimlich maneuver recently. Her decision to learn the life saving maneuver did save the life of a student. Hopefully Arthur will learn a lesson not to eat and laugh at the same time since he was lucky not to pass away during a lunch period.
