Finally I caught Covid

After two and a half years, I thought I'd got away with it. But last week the odds caught up with me and I got a dose of Covid 19. I had a couple of days of coughing and runny nose, and I just thought I had a bad cold. Then when I went home from work on Thursday night, I lay down for a short nap. The next thing I knew, it was gone midnight, and I was covered in sweat. I had at least 24 hours feeling pretty feverish, but at least I was able to get around my house and cook meals etc. I'm not feeling so bad now, still got a cough and my nose is a bit blocked up, but otherwise basically OK. The Covid test I took this morning was ambiguous - there may have been a faint line there, but I'm not quite sure. Taking another one in the morning, hopefully it'll be all clear. Luckily, I make it a habit to be reasonably well-stocked with food etc, so I haven't had to go out this week. And I've been lucky that it wasn't any worse, because I do have underlying health problems. So I suppose the moral is to continue to be on your guard - if you develop cold-like symptoms, get tested, if you can, to be on the safe side. And don't forget to get vaccinated.

For all you know it could've been a cold or flu. Not everything's going to be COVID and those tests do have a failure rate. Remember that.

I tested positive more than once, so it was definitely C-19. Fortunately for me it was just a mild dose. Thanks for commenting.

I am doing what I can to avoid getting a head cold myself since it was no fun having COVID two years ago.

I hope you're completely over the Covid now. It wasn't so bad in my case, but my sister and her husband caught a dose of long Covid, and it went on for ages in their case. Thanks for replying.

@VictorFrankenstein You are welcome. I did get help from my doctor to cure me of my flue like symptoms.

Sorry to know it but hopefully you have a bit of resistance now. I got it and have not been vaxed, yet I had no symptoms no fever, only a mild cough.

Thanks Ocean. I'm over it now, apart from a persistent cough. No doubt that will go in a few more days.

My friend just recovered from Covid 19, and she had the exact same symptoms as you. Still has a cough which I heard can linger for quite some time. That virus is more contagious than the flu or common cold it seems?

I hope you feel better soon. I would never really just on these tests, but that is my opinion. Feeling better is the main thing.

I had it last January. It wasn't too bad but it wasn't 'nothing' either. I went to bed feeling fine and then I woke up suddenly in the early hours just knowing things were quite wrong.
