Reactions To My Post On King Charles III Being Mean To His Servants

"King Charles III being beastly to the servants from day one - because obviously moving a few items on a desk is beneath blue bloods - and on live TV - great start to his Reign "
I posted this short piece on a few posts and got some quite negative reactions from a few people for it.
A few people criticised me for posting about this when there are bigger issues with the royals to address like their tax dodging, the system of privilege and inheritance, and even whether or not to get rid of the monarchy. All good stuff, but hardly grounds to get rid of the smaller concerns.
We all experience a bad day but it is no excuse to pass the pain down. I was once at a work meeting when a manager declared that he was having a bad day and intended to make us all feel bad to cheer himself up. I actually challenged him there and then, pointing out that he needed a better route out of his misery than bullying the rest of us. His day just went worse for his efforts to ruin mine. The kick the cat to let off steam attitude never impressed me and it is never petty or trivial that anyone takes that stance in life on anyone. It’s cowardly bullying, nothing more, nothing less. It pales beside some of Prince Philip’s racist antics and of course, Andy’s association with Epstein/Maxwell. It’s still part of the picture. Just because a member of the Vietcong only got shot doesn’t make his tragedy less in need of concern than the victims of a napalm strike.
Charlie boy is obviously struggling in an unenviable position. A death in close family usually means time off work - compassionate leave. He has to grieve while starting a new job, moving between London & Edinburgh, having to share air with Truss and the burden of being the senior monarch too, at 73. Given his age we may well be going through all this again in the next two decades. He obviously can’t last 70 years. Short of abdication he is showing willingness to take on the job, so criticism of him is perfectly valid.
My reaction was also carped as the video link comes from the site of The Daily Mail, a pro-establishment tabloid newspaper. The youtube is from the Faily Entrail, but it just repeats a YT that has been circulated on Twitter before several media outlets ran it simply because is too out there not to reference it any longer.
I expect the wish to see Prince William in charge is that he is younger and sexier and more photogenic. The media is always impatient for that.
Seeing Charles*when Prince Of Wales) reading stories on Jackanory, taking part in Goon Show sketches, talking to plants, and speaking out on bad architecture and the environment (while supporting grouse shooting), gave him some kudos, but his cold reaction to Diana turned many against him, with Camilla in the role of wicked step-mother. Now everyone loves them again coz they went on Eastenders.
Yes, there are the big issues of lack of taxation, inheritance of power, wealth and privilege and a case for antidisestablishmentarianism / republicanism, but that needs to fire on all cylinders, taking the Royals down on every social embarrassment, big or small. The aggressive way protesters have faced arrest and abuse from the ‘won’t hear a bad word against them’ brigade, arresting someone for calling Andrew a nonce to his face after the main media ignored film footage of him copping a feel from his own daughter while ‘comforting her’ and detaining people with blank placards because they might write something effective or disparaging about them later.
C3’s aggression to the serfs was a minor incident, but part of the bigger picture, it showed the public persona with his guard down. They should not and dare not let it go or treat it as too petty to mention beside the other stuff. It is part of the overall pattern of contempt for the ordinary workers despite the smiling and waving to the faithful loyal and even mournful subjects.
Yes he talks of Religious Tolerance, as the titular head of the Church Of England even to some extent over the Archbishop of Canterbury. He embodies the ties between church and state that need tearing asunder. I remember being in the St John Ambulance Brigade in my late teens, being forced to attend their church services. When I pointed out I was in my (pre cult flirtation) atheism phase I was told it was oK as they were multi-denominational, so presumably accommodating atheism, and Satanism too, and the service was purely Anglican. Charles is the same - oh, you have a different belief? That’s fine, come in and sit quietly at the back. With any luck you’ll get converted.
I’m sick of seeing events cancelled and the Queen being venerated as a saint, with endless anecdotes from anyone who met her or saw her. It’s just short of having someone weep telling us they have an epiphany every time they lick a stamp with her face silhouetted on the front. Charles is just the next episode of the Soap Opera. We are expected to lap up every good thing he says and does, be it big or small. It’s only right that the seemingly minor problems are exposed too, along with the big tax dodges and bag full of cash to take out of the Near East no questions asked stuff. Put into a holistic context, discussing his beastly stance on desk clearance is not as petty and trivial as many would wish it to be. The right wing are arresting protesters, so the more protests, big and small, the better.
I read a piece on John Paul Sartre being incarcerated in a detention camp in Paris during the German Occupation. He was criticised for not using his great intellect to spearhead an escape or other major counter offensive. He pointed out rightly that as a writer, he did what he could to rebel in every little way he could. He described how dawdling on his way into his bunk room, he angered a guard so much the guard kicked him up the bum. It was Camus who told him later that they can’t all fight at the front lines but even getting the Germans wound up enough to kick you up the posterior, as petty as it may seem, is playing a part and making a contribution to their downfall. Spelling out that C3 growls at servants for not moving a pen box is getting a reaction - small besides the bigger protests and issues, a kick up the bum or a bullet rather than a napalm strike, but it does play its part, so others on the left should welcome such stories doing the rounds, not poo-poo them or dismiss them as trivial. It doesn’t just dustbin the story, but the people sharing it too, and they / we don’t deserve that with some protesters risking arrest, or mob-lynching.

I didn't see your earlier comments but I have read this post, and seen the video. Seriously, gesturing to an assistant (whose job is just to stand there to do whatever is necessary) can hardly be called bullying. Nowadays the fact that every action is broadcast and scrutinised so closely is just ridiculous.
As for the very existence of the royal family and the monarch - well every country needs a head of state to act as figurehead and entertain important visitors etc. Yes we could get rid of the royals and replace them with some celebrity like Trump or one of the Kardashians or some rapper or sportsperson. Would that be better? Of course people will have different opinions on that but it would certainly destroy all the historical links that the royal family keep alive.

@Fleura I don't think the celebritocrasy would happen, just as it never did in France or Russia or anywhere that has got rid of its monarchy though I hope we can do it less violently

@authurchappell Now I don’t normally read long posts, but I made a happy exception with this one. I was especially irked at Belfast’s streets being closed off today and general disruption being visited upon us just like in the days when IRA bombs did the same kind of thing. And all because the King came calling in order to stamp his majestic magnificence upon us. This is going to be one very long week.

I would take those things with a grain of salt. After all we're all human, and quite often that's forgotten in the grand scheme of things.

I watched the video and not only the gesture but the face of King Charles were disturbing.
A Royal should always keep calm, be kind, this is something that I disliked and today I read that he sent letters to send home many who those who served him in Scotland as "he does not need them anymore".
I never liked Charles, I thought he was getting better, but I see that he did not change.

@LadyDuck his latest outburst is over a fountain pen - he is seriously losing the plot, though to be fair, I hate fountain pens too

This is your stuff which you feel comfy to put you reactions at stake. I do respect it But I'm not in this kind of issue. In our country, trivial acts and deeds of President are being sensationalized by media rather than the major issue of tax evasion and criminal act of commission.
