Received an email from the Director of International Monetary Fund. Greetings, ... We know that you have not received your fund from Africa! We have finally cash your abandoned long-lost fund confirming to be your won compensation funds and we decided to boxed the money for avoiding expiry of the check because it has stayed long in our custody searching for the contact to reach you, after our investigation we discovered that the money is not an illegal payment, the fund values the sum of $2.5 million dollars. So kindly confirm your details. You full name / Home Address / Your Phone Number / Nearest Airport It's clearly spam and I won't be giving them my info but I am curious to know why they need to know my nearest airport. Are they planning to pay me a visit? Also, by the content of this email it seems like they are saying they cashed my funds and put them in a box. Or am I wrong?

You're right about their cashing your funds and have put them in a box...hopefully not a kitty litter box! I shouldn't talk, but I haven't received that kind of communication in years. Of course, as soon as I state that, they'll come flooding in. I have heard of people getting robbed, burgled, and even assaulted by giving their name, phone number, address and nearest airport out to people they have had no dealings with before. I'd be really careful with the people that sent that communication, you don't know anything about them. Besides, you don't know what box they put the money in. They really could have put the money in the kitty litter box, nothing smells worse than something that was buried in the litter box and not gotten out immediately.

In my opinion if someone is gonna spam people at least make sure your spelling and grammar is on point.

I haven't gotten this kind of spam in a long time. I don't like the smell of kitty litter so I definitely wouldn't want my millions stored in a kitty litter box.

@lovebuglena I'm fussy about the litterbox in my apartment. I clean it at least twice a day, more if it looks like they've used it a lot. I don't like the smell of litter boxes at all and do my best to keep the smell out of my apartment. So far, I'm successful as my neighbors have freely informed me that there is no kitty urine smell, nor kitty litter smell. Besides, kitty litter box smell is hard to get out of most things, including money!

Scammers need to pay attention to details. And use a writer whose native language is English. But let us know as soon as you get your $2 million dollars.

@lovebuglena I don't blame you at all. But if you want to round it down to a straight 2 mil, I'll take the measly half million off your hands. Even if it is in kitty litter.

@1creekgirl Sharing is caring as they say so I guess I wouldn't mind sharing some of it. Though I don't know how many zeros I am willing to share.

It's 2.5 million. Don't want to part with .5 million. I want the whole amount they put away in a box.

If you do, you will sorry and regret it. Not only it's a scam. It's phishing. They will access your bank account and other accounts in social media, etc.

I think these are just thieves like any other. They use a language that can lure you to give them your details. Perhaps they can use them to steal money from you bank account or do any harm with them. However, the reason for them asking your nearest airport is that they want to make you think that they are very serious about your money sent in the box. If you don't have any deals with the IMF please ignore it. If at all you have made a deal with the IMF please make a follow-up on the same through the right channel. I hope this helps

Does IMF actually exist? I am obviously ignoring this email. In fact, I removed it from my junk folder and deleted it from the trash folder too.
