Sorry I haven't been around much. We came back from the cruise for about 10 days and then went to Connecticut for my Mom's Memorial service.
Mom died in March of 2021 but because f Covid, and my schedule as well as my brother's (we both live away from Connecticut) we weren't able to have a memorial service for mom until September 10th of this year.
I was the one planning it, but she had left me a list of her favorite hymns and I knew she loved the Lord's prayer so I tried to incorporate as much of what she liked into her service.
It was a nice service and then we had a luncheon afterward. I am glad it is finally done now and I can have closure. I thought I would be okay because so much time had passed, but I still got teary eyes a few times during the service.
I miss my mom though. The service dredged up a lot of memories and it's like going through her death all over again. Has that ever happened to you?

Thanks. The first year was very hard but it's better now.

Yes, you are right. It dragged things out and it was like going through mourning twice.

Sorry about your mom, those kinds of things are always difficult emotionally. At least you were finally able to have the service.

Yes, it feels so good to have that behind me and to have honored her wishes. That was the most important thing for me.

Thanks. We do, and there were a lot more brought out at the service.

It is normal to do that even years later.

I know that was hard. You never stop missing a loved one, but it was good that you were able to finally have her memorial service.

Yes, it has helped me move on, but of course she is always with me in my heart.
