internships

i graduated from college few months ago and the next thing i'm supposed to do is: find a place where i'd do internship for one year. i can get a job in my field only after i do that internship. but the thing is ----> this internship won't be paid, or i'd be getting like 250BAM for it (about 125USD). some companies offer more, but i haven't seen them post anything about it. and that's why i don't wanna do it. i don't want to work for free and i'd rather do a random job but get paid normally. am i dumb? maybe what's the situation in your country? is internship a thing or you can start working immediately after school/college?

My youngest child is having his on the job training now. Good thing it is OJT from home and that makes him save in transportation and food expenses. Another thing is he is receiving a compensation from the company even if it is just a training. It is just a little amount but good enough because not all companies accepting OJTs are giving compensation.

A lot of internships in the US are done for free, too. I don't know how the person pays their bills while they doing free work. I already had a job before I went to college, so didn't do an internship.

and how long do they take? also one year? the thing here is - it's difficult to find a job and it's easy to find internship (because it's not paid probably) and when you're done with it - you're unemployed and can't find a job, no matter the performance in the institution where you were doing your internship. it just doesn't guarantee you anything and that's why i feel like i'd be wasting my time doing it.

Yes, Interships in Indonesia mostly are done for free but they will give you like transportation fee or lunch fee. You will get a lof of benefit when you get Intership in Big Company i tho
