Took This Long To Realize

I have been in Mississippi for over 40 years, from Pasadena CA. I have had so much trouble here, because there, you could live next door to your neighbor, ten years and barely knee their name. Here everyone know your name and business, when trying to be honest to fix broken friendships, they lie, and you know they are lying. Just hit my mind, after all this time. Not saying I am going home, but at least I know now I am part of the problem too. What a great awakening. My life is going to change for the better.

I have to separate myself from them. They love to talk about people. But if I told them what I heard about them, they won't sleep for a week.

I have good neighbors. And I would never live in California. But I am not you. I wish you the vey best as you deserve it.

My conclusion. We are different, I will never understand them, nor they me. So it will always be static. None of us needs it.

@popciclecold Agreed. I consider static as drama and that is not welcome in my life for sure.

Where I live nobody knows their neighbors either. I blame it to being a very big city.

@marguicha The sad thing is they talk about me, and each other.

@popciclecold I suppose that they have nothing else to talk about.

Glad that it dawned on you ! There is a saying here: a relative far off is less help than a neighbour close by.

I hate those places where people are nosy. I know my closest neighbors, they are very nice people, but we ask no questions and they ask no questions.

I’m new here, moved last year and there are a lot of those kind of characters here.

I joked about the FBI knowing so much about me (because I have a clearance from my Navy days) that I need to ask them where’ I’m going on vacation next month. Southern women know more than that.

Yes, not like Mr. Rogers neighborhood mist places. Especially now, with pandemic, almost over but lasting effects. You just don't know what people have on their shoulders.

Where I live we don't know our neighbors. Just say hello if we meet in the lobby.
