I know if I were the owner of an SUV that had a bear trapped inside of the auto that was located in Hurley New York, I would be scared not to even think of opening the door much less get inside of the SUV. An owner of an SUV called 911 to report seeing a black bear inside of his SUV on Friday September 23 called 911 to ask for help to get the black bear out of his SUV.. Two police officers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation with the assistance of the New York State Police came to find a way for the bear who was trapped inside of the SUV by first closing down Highway 28 to traffic before using the state trooper cars to from a funnel for the bear to walk back inside of the woods. The two officers with the State Department of Environmental Conservation used a rope to open the back hatch so that the bear could leave the SUV and return to his home. Even though the bear was not harmed, the SUV did suffer severe damage inside due to the bear struggling to get out of the SUV after the bear most likely got into the SUV by entering into an open door from either the side door or back of the SUV since the owner was careless not to close the doors in his SUV. How long was the bear trapped inside of the SUV is not known. My belief is that the bear was hungry for food when he saw the open door of the SUV since just before a bear takes a nap for the winter, the search for food will increase.

It’s a good idea to keep all doors and the trunk of the car closed.I would guess the bear destroyed the inside of theSUV.

@Deepizzaguy Sometimes a car will hit a kangaroo and it will come into the car through the windscreen. If it isn't killed instantly it can totally wreck the inside of the car.

According to the police report the SUV was beaten up inside by the bear.

Well, the woods would be secured by a high fence so that the bear couldn't get through and stroll to nearby community. Bear is dangerous especially when it is hungry.

You have a good point of putting a fence to keep bears away. Too bad city leaders do not act on behalf of keeping a fence up to keep bears away from populated areas.

Actually that sounds rather funny perhaps the bear had somewhere to drive to and I am glad he got rescued,

It reminds me of some of The Three Stooges video shorts where either a lion or bear were inside an auto with the comedians.

Like you, I think the bear was probably looking for food.

That is what I learned seeing stories of bears getting into autos and houses near the winter since they want to fill their bellies before they take their winter naps.

Bears are usually looking for food. We all have to be more careful.

According to wildlife officials, when winter approaches, bears are desperate for food before they take their winter naps.
