A thing of beauty is a joy forever

The 19th century English poet John Keats said that 'A thing of beauty is a joy forever', and William Morris (19th century British designer, writer and social activist) said “Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful.”
Of course both beautiful and useful is even better!
I decided I needed a new needle case. I did have a perfectly adequate piece of fabric that I’ve used for years, and I also have my mother’s old needle case although some of the needles in it have gone a bit rusty and got stuck in there so that’s not ideal, but anyway I felt like giving myself a little treat.
I had seen some felt needle cases online that I really liked the look of, but being rather careful with my money and since I also like the satisfaction of making things I decided I would make my own, loosely based on the ones I saw.
By cutting out a few shapes, sewing them together and then adding a little bit of simple embroidery I made this. It makes me happy every time I use it.

Surely a thing of beauty is a joy forever and looking at what you have created it proves that and you saved money too.

@Fleura For example the joy I get looking at the indigo butterfly pea flower in my garden which came up only because of the great effort i put in.

That's really lovely and pretty but buying a needle case that would preserve your needles is not a bad idea.

I am the exact opposite. Things used to need mending my kids would long outgrow them before I’d finally decide to sit down and repair them.
