Starting seasonal job hunt this week

Mylotters, it's been a month since I last heard back from Jamie when we had discussed my work adjustment trial period at Marc's, and to move forward to job skills training. I know she's busy with other clients, but I've nudged her every week and have gotten no response. I haven't heard a thing from Hattie Larlham's job development specialists either. Two weeks ago, I've gotten an email to fill out a survey for the community-based assessment and work adjustment intakes from Hattie Larlham. I would've liked an email from Jamie to tell her when I should suspect to hear back from them, and how long it would last. Right now, it would be in November. I'm tired of waiting.
So I'm going to take the initiative and be proactive by starting my seasonal job hunt tomorrow morning on my own. I also went to see an Ohio Means Job representative at my library and showed him my updated resume. He made some minor suggestions to make it better. And then I signed up for job training with OMJ to help me with the job search, resume, and interviews. I have my intake meeting with Ashleigh, my intake counselor, on Thursday afternoon via the phone.
Though OOD doesn't support seasonal work, Jamie had told me that there's no stopping me with my job hunt and look for other resources to help me out. Until when I'll hear back from them, I'll apply to jobs. And when I do, I'll put a temporary halt to it. My goal is to gain some retail experience and earn some money over the holidays. Let's hope I get some nibbles with some interview requests in the next coming days.

I found this time of year the only ones hiring seasonal workers are department stores. If you like that sort of retail work, it's a good starting point toward working part-time all year. Good luck finding a good job match!

That's true. I'm also targeting grocery stories for non-seasonal work. I did ask my local Acme Fresh Markets store last week. It couldn't hurt to ask if I put "Seasonal part-time" on the application. I'll do the same for Marc's. There's a good chance, if I land a seasonal job, it might become permanent. That's all I could hope for this fall/winter season.

@KristenH Sorry for being late. I have to react on them though it's late and it didn't prevent me of not doing it so.

Since it seemed to be a good fit at Marc's and they gave you a reference I would try calling them back directly and asking about s job. Also, maybe retail isn't our niche. Maybe you could try o do more along the lines of what you have done at Upwofrk.

I never thought of calling them, but I'll give it a try. I still have Upwork to get through the winter in case I have no luck. Good point. But it's worth a shot. I doubt I'll try food service again. Maybe hospitality?
