Removing nail polish from the floor - help!

Yesterday, ahem..., my little daughter had a little accident that resulted in swirls of nailpolish on the kitchen floor. Since it has not dried, most of it was removed with just wet wipes. The rest was scrubbed off from the floor with a steel scrubber. We didn't have nailpolish remover at home and the other option was to use handrub which has alcohol in it. This time we managed to get it off in 15 minutes with a lot of scrubbing. The whole house smelled of nailpolish. Are there any other tips and tricks you know that will get rid of nailpolish that has spilt on the floor. Addendum: This is a regular tiled kitchen floor. Sorry, I didn't have the patience to take photos.

Nail polish has a very distinctive smell. I don't know any tricks for removing it from tiles. I might have tried eucalyptus oil but I see Anna has a solution for you.

The smell was a bit overpowering, but was gone by the morning.
