Did you get your sticker today (if you are a US citizen, that is)?

Today was general election day in the United States. I worked in our local voting location from 5:15 am until about 9:00 pm. Very long day on only 4 hours sleep. But, I handed out a lot of these stickers today. We had over 400 voters show up and that's really good for this side of town. Plus, so many young people voting for the first time. More than I've seen over the 14 odd years I've been working the elections. That gave me hope that the next generation is going to be very involved in public policy, whether through public service or the power of the vote. They're paying attention and getting involved. I have hope that they'll help save our country from those who want us to become a plutocracy.

We never receive a sticker for voting, to vote is a right but not an obligation, but most people vote.

I wish that were true here. Usually, fewer than half of our eligible voters vote and as many or more don't even register to vote.

@jerzgirl We do not need to register to vote, we are automatically registered as soon as we reach legal age.

They haven’t given out stickers at my polling place in a long time. Guess that’s what I get for living in the lower middle class world.

I live in a lower middle class blue collar community. Apathy knows no social strata.
