God's mentors: The role of a mentor

In many areas of our lives, we utilise the benefit of coaches, mentors, or helpers.

The Jewish religion claim that they are God's chosen mentors for the rest of the human race. This mentoring role, in the Christian religion, is depicted as being fulfilled for Christians by the role of Jesus Christ, in their lives. God plays the role of our spiritual father, and he is a mentor to Christians too, as is the Holy Spirit. When we mentor others, we should follow the example of Jesus Christ. We should maintain our prayerful connection to God, and so keep it vitalised and alive, as we continue to value his presence in our lives, as we love him with our whole being too. We thus grow in our relationship with God, by befriending him as our friend. When we love God, we are struck with his love, which changes us forever thereafter. Instead of being independently, selfishly driven, we become God-driven, love-driven, from within, instead. No one religion can claim God exclusively for themselves alone. God is for us all. Do you allow God to mentor you in your own life? Don't limit yourself only to yourself, let God expand you into all that you can be. Expand your capabilities within God, by allowing God to mentor you in your life. Why not let God provide these services to us too?

Such enlightening words. Thank you. What you mentioned is all true. Sometime due to a hectic life I often forget to listen to the voice of the mentor within me It's great to pause now and then and have a deep reflection of what I did and perhaps mend the errant ways I have committed.

Thanks. Yes, when we listen, inwardly, we will always hear the voice of that greatest of mentors, God, talking to us, as a friend.

God has been my best mentor since I was a child. I am so grateful! He has provided many human mentors for me through the years too. Thanks for sharing this helpful lesson.

I also try to keep God as my main mentor, but others in my life have played a mentoring role too, at times for me too.

Yes, he is the biggest presence in my life too. I would not like it to be any other way.

When we see others through the eyes of our creator, we are almost there in terms of higher consciousness. Then life is a song that uplifts not only us but others too. In my own way, I have seen others taking a second look when they are shown love and affection in a sincere way. They open their hearts to share their love too that remains untapped otherwise. We need constant charging of love that lies dormant in us; it is free and ready on tap.

That's well said, siva. Yes, most other person's hearts will be opened when a little love goes their way, and charges it. We can all help to keep the other person's flame of love alive in their hearts too.

@Shiva49 Yes, love creates love, and when we love, there is more of it overall, spread all around and within us too.

@innertalks Thanks Steve, the more we spread love, the more the reserve of it within us and the reward is all-out bliss. However, we overlook this basic ingredient and go out to belittle others hitting them below the belt, and treating them as lesser beings. How we come out of this vicious cycle is the Gordian knot we have to cut/untie as we are teetering on the edge of the precipice.
