Ava Donegan who is a 17 year old teenager who lives in Clay County Missouri was honored by Will Aiken who is the Sheriff of Clay County on Thursday evening with a Certificate of Recognition and a challenge coin. Excelsior Springs Police Chief Greg Dell also gave Ava a challenge coin as her reward as thanks for doing her part to use her first aid skills to assist a Excelsior Springs Police Officer whose name was not released who was shot by a driver who was being pulled over the police for hitting a police officer while Ava and a friend of her went inside their auto on Saturday October 1. The suspect who was inside his own auto shot the police officer twice which wounded his wrist and arm before the suspect was killed when the partner of the wounded officer shot the suspect in the head. Ava who admits that she learned basic first aid skills from her father only did her duty to assist the wounded officer by using her first aid skills to call 911 to ask for help to get the wounded officer who was not able to use his radio to call for help. The wounded officer has undergone several operations due to his injuries in the shooting with the deceased suspect. To make this story even sweeter, Ava received a $2,000 scholarship from Chuck Anderson Ford. Ava admitted that she just did what is right by assisting the police officer who was wounded not for fame but for the reason of following her knowledge to do what is right, I like someone who cares to assist a stranger who is doing their duty to serve and protect their community.

Ava admitted that she did not have to assist the police officer who was wounded but she did it since it was the right thing to do.

That is true since the police officer knows that every case could be their last.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, this incident is proof, that not every person has evil motives! And Ava was taught by her parents, this compassion for others:)
