@sathviksouvik It makes for more interest for the spectators if the underdogs can win even a few games.

thanks Judy when Asian teams are defeating the mighty European and South American teams the tournament had opened up.Argentina had been 2 times champion, Germany had been 4 times champion. Saudi Arabia and Japan had shown that if impressive football can be played mighty teams can be defeated.

Yes and one news headline said : " It's a cup of upsets!!"
And Croatia and Morocco had a drawn match.
These two upset results (Saudi Arabia and Japan wins)throw the field wide open.
Who knows that this World Cup could give a totally new world champion!!

Plus strategies like Man to Man marking while defending, maintaining stamina that matter a lot in Modern Football.

The Latin American style is based on skills, short passes, dribbling and touch, a but similar to the traditional Indian Hockey style (that has changed for the Indian hockey team now).
European concept is more on speed, ball possession, solid defence and stamina.
It's similar in Hockey too for teams like Holland, Germany etc.
Sometimes things wirk well for Brazil and Argentina but if European teams like Germany, Italy, Spain etc find gaps in their defence early on, it acts against these Latin American teams.
Of course, I am not a full expert and a deeper analysis would need me to read some relevant articles once again!

I have never watched a soccer match, but my grandson liked it when he was in school.
