Jeddah Heavy Rains after 12 Years

Back in 2010, it also rained cats and dogs in Jeddah. That was the time I was just new here. It was really catastrophic as the city was not really prepared for such a phenomenon. Right, you heard me say phenomenon because rains rarely happen here. In fact, it rains once or twice in two or three years and usually when you say rain it is just very quick. After that incident of many casualties, the government has learned to improve their drainage as well as sewage system so that the city will become ready if the heavy rains happen again. So, it happened again just today. The rain poured hard and for a long time. If I am not mistaken it rained for almost three hours in a row. It was supposed to be our 20th Anniversary celebration along with our 6th energy efficiency seminar altogether in one program. Our company prepared for an extravagant program but to no avail. We were about to start when the rain started pouring hard. We were hopeful at first that it would stop quickly but it didn't. So, the whole program was cancelled. It was really a disaster. Our campus was flooded and we discovered many problems in the campus because there were to many leaks on every classroom's ceiling. We ended up eating the food we prepared very late. We were stranded in our workplace for hours and we couldn't go home. When we headed home it took longer than usual. Some took four hours. Others three hours. It took us the longest, which was five hours. The travel from work to home is usually 25 minutes to 45 minutes depending on the traffic condition. Phew! We arrived home late but safe and sound except that I did not notice my coffee tumbler lid was slightly opened and it drenched everything in my Levi's bag including my work laptop, which I intentionally brought home with me to secure it. Now, I am literally tired, but I still manage to myLot.

I'm sorry about the heavy rains, Neil. I hope you don't have to pay for the new laptop. Raining heavy for hours is nothing to us. It stormed here all night last night and is still raining today. I'm worried that the temperature will drop too low and the rain will turn into snow.

Thank you so much. But the travel was really tiring and I kept on controlling myself because I had a nature's call.
