My monitor is dying

My monitor is flickering almost all the time. It is seven years old. I checked and saw that it is flickering even without being connected to my computer. I think I need to change it. I can't use it anymore. I connected it to a laptop and it keeps flickering. Now it is a difficult choice. I am not sure which monitor should I choose. There are so many and it's a difficult choice.

What’s really bad about these monitors is that they change so much with the software and hardware that you have to, first of all, make sure it’s compatible with the computer AND the software you have. That’s another reason I like Apple products: I don’t have to worry about any of that.
Good luck with the search.

@LadyDuck — ah. You see how long it’s been since I had a Windows computer. Thank you!

@FourWalls With the actual HDMI cable there is no need to check if a monitor is "compatible", all monitors work with no matter which PC motherboard. Some monitors still have a VGA to be used with very old computers. I know because my husband always builds his computers and the monitor is the only thing that does not pose problems. He has been an Apple programmer in the past, we still have our 42 years old Apple II.

You need to look at your budget and what you're going to use it for. Ask yourself what things are most important to you, and that'll help you narrow them down.
