Happy Birthday, Paul Desmond!

As many Americans know, it was Paul Desmond who wrote "Take Five," the biggest hit from Dave Brubeck's 1959 jazz album, "Time Out."
1959 was also the year of the release of Miles Davis's classic jazz album, "Kind of Blue." I believe Kind of Blue to be the best selling jazz album of all time, with Time Out not that far behind.
Had I not been listening to my favorite NPR station this evening, I might have missed the fact that today was Paul Desmond's birthday. I'll bet many of you missed that fact as well, with the possible exception of @FourWalls.
Paul Desmond was Brubeck's sax player and friend. But the two had a sometimes difficult relationship. You can read about it if you so choose.
I'll just provide a link to Take Five. Happy Birthday, Paul Desmond, one of my jazz idols!

I was more interested in November 25 being another saxophonist’s birthday…John Larroquette. He gave saxophone up after high school and focused on acting, which turned out to be a good idea!

@popciclecold — the one and only! Larroquette played sax as a youngster.

@popciclecold Yep. They wanted to mess with "typical" rhythms.
