In winter the marigold flowers are cultivated in big numbers. / myLot

In West Bengal marigold is cultivated for earning revenue. While marigold it used all the year for making garlands, in winter the marigold grows bigger in size. In the countryside they are grown they plucked and given to the garland industry. It really bring a lot of revenue.

Winter is the time for many blooms. I have planted few marigolds lately. They are still small saplings. I hope to get some good number of blooms soon.

thanks Arunimaji I tried growing marigold in pots in balcony. But it did not grow well. I think they grow better on garden soil.

@sathviksouvik So far, they have done good in my pots every year. Keeping fingers crossed for this year

. It's a fact that plants do better on ground than in pots.

Yes these Flowers are very much in need. They are in big demand during the festivals and Marriage seasons. Apart from West Bengal, are there other states as well which cultivate and sell Marigold?

thanks Prikaji I think they are sold in Orissa also. they are grown in different parts of India. But only in few states they are in demand for the garland industry

It's cultivated in Odisha too and now in winter as people offer marigold flower for prayers. Here in Odisha they also cultivate the summer variety. I had purchased some and grown them. They blossomed well.
