Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special

This was something I didn't realize I needed in my life until I saw it on the Disney+ menu Friday night. It's irreverent, offbeat, and silly, but full of holiday cheer. If you get nostalgic for the Star Wars Holiday Special from 1978, this is made for you. I wouldn't recommend it for small children and there's a scene where two characters get QUITE drunk, but it's the kind of humor one might expect from a typical PG-13 production.
@FourWalls, I thought of you when it began because the opening music was something I never expected to be playing in a holiday special produced by Disney -- "Fairytale of New York" by The Pogues!

I came across this the other night while searching for something to watch, and thought it was awesome. Of course it was a little on the cheesy side, but it was still fun and lighthearted and it was cool to see Kevin Bacon playing along to the fun!

Yeah, that's how we found it too! I knew it would be cheesy (how could it not be?), and I'm glad we enjoyed it. Kevin Bacon was a nice surprise.

I am really enjoying my subscription to Disney+. That is where I watched the Elton Josh concert last night. Haven't seen this yet though.

I was hoping that the Elton John concert was good!
We just finished up the first season of Andor. I'm really enjoying all the Star Wars spinoffs.

Granted, they faded out the song before Kirsty and Shane started hurling slurs at each other, but I was still dying that they played it at all and had to explain to Otto why.
I guess next year they'll have to top that by using Tom Waits' "Christmas Card From A Hooker"?

@FourWalls Or Leonard Cohen's "Winter Lady".
Ok, it's not technically a Christmas song, and it's about as appropriate for Christmas as his "Hallelujah"... but you know someone's going to include it sooner or later.

@TheHorse That's ok, there are plenty of other things to enjoy. There's Dicken's Faire in Daly City and Mountain View will have its German Christmas market in a few weeks.

This one is on a streaming network, and not regular TV, but I'm sure it will show up on something like Hulu eventually.

It might not be too long of a wait, I've noticed that the turnaround time from theatres to streaming has reduced over the past two years.
