Yesterday was the first Sunday of advent. The candle of hope on the advent wreath was lighted. Accordingly, it was the beginning of the Catholic calendar. In our church we are preparing for the greatest event which is Christmas... it is now less than a month away we hope for world peace during that day and the days thereafter.

@LadyDuck yes I agree I should have said preparing for the arrival of the messiah I happened to skip it inadvertently
