Short story: Zen was reflected in the pond, as much as the pond reflected Zen

We should not force ourselves and our ideas upon the world and then the world will not force itself onto us either

The Zen master, Joshura Zerbroski, walked past the pond, where his student was washing his feet, and he said. "Two feet, one pool." The student looked up, and smiled back at the master, replying: "Duality walks on two feet, not one." The master snorted, a loud, "Harrumph." "I am not your cow, yet you milk me." The student placed his hand in the pond and splashed upwards the water onto his master. "Yes, we are all cows. A person is not personal to himself, until he is personal to all. The root becomes the tree." the master said, and walked off again. Someone once said: "If we are whatever happens to us, nothing will ever happen that is not us, or a part of us." or, in other words: "Whatever happens is you happening to it, as much as it is it happening to you." Both the student and the master knew this, and they both liked to have some fun with each other, whenever they met each other, casually like this. We each have our own road to travel.

Yes, l agree. We each have our own unique path to take for ourselves, and we shouldn't try to get others to take our path, as it is not their path.

@RubyHawk Yes, we can only know our own path, and we should never presume to know anyone else's path.

@innertalks My thoughts exactly. We don’t know what our brothers path is.

The Zen master and his student have a relationship of mutual respect to feeding off each other. That approach enriches them with their wholesome repartees.

Yes, it would be good if we could all learn to live in that way, and feed, as well as learn, off of each other, like that too.

@innertalks Sadly, we tend to have a closed mind to shut off others. The ego is the spoiler. We can all learn from each other thereby enriching our lives and also becoming more compassionate and forgiving.

@Shiva49 Yes, we are each, each other's teacher, as an old saying goes.
