Students continue to amaze me every day

and not in a good way. We are currently working on the chapter on fingerprints and fingerprint evidence in forensic science. I don't do a whole lot of lecturing in the class because 1) the students don't listen and 2) the subject in general is something I don't know much about. I use a lot of webquests, virtual labs, videos, etc. Today, though, we were starting a hands-on fingerprint lab. It wasn't anything complicated. They just had to take their fingerprints and put them on a card to analyze tomorrow. That was it. I let them play UNO or Jenga when they were finished. It was something hands-on and easy. Yeah I had a handful of students in one of my classes refuse to do it because they thought I was going to send their fingerprints to the FBI. I was like "we can set the cards on fire when you are finished with them" and they still refused. I told them I would make the lab which I was planning to make 30 points worth 100 points and they still said they would take the zero. *slams head on table* This is what I deal with every day. Yesterday a student refused to stand for the Pledge to the flag. Today they refused to do fingerprints. I wonder what my bio kids will do when they have to do DNA extraction with their own DNA. They will probably accuse me of trying to clone them.

You're secretly plotting with the FBI to get more fingerprints added to the national database. What an ingenious idea! lol

Pretty sure the ones I'd want to send (if I actually did) are already in the system

Again, if we acted like that back in the 60s, we would have been sent to the principal's office or had a note sent home with us. I don't get the kids today.
