Mylotters, here's the second half of my job search update with a report on last week's interviews and end results since I've placed everything on hold.
Marc's: The interview went good. I felt positive about it to be a closeout stocker. The store manager Erica was real nice. She said she needed more closeout stockers especially at the PM. This was what concerned Danielle and Jamie with the availability hours. So I followed-up on Tuesday and spoken to Erica. She asked if my hours had changed. I said I could do PM based on what I spoken to Danielle and later Jamie about. She said she would talk to Paul (the hiring manager) and get back to me when I've given her 4-8 for my hours. I never heard back and spoken to followed up with Paul today. He said it was 5-10:30 PM, which is quite doable, but a bit late for me. Not a problem with transportation, I just have to call ahead to arrange a ride back home. I wouldn't have to sacrifice church and still volunteer at the clinic/shelter in the day time. I told Danielle when she called me, that it's around the same hours I volunteer at the zoo for nightly events on the weekends. I can still write and do Upwork too. But depending on the schedule if hired, it might be tricky to work weekend nights when I go back to the zoo in February/March 2023. So Danielle's going to call on Monday and find out what's going on, since it didn't sound like an verbal hour to me. I told Paul I would think about it and get back to him next week, and he had said sound good. I could do 5-9 or 5-10 PM.
Walgreen's: The interview went pretty well. Though they passed via email/phone, when they were looking for somebody for their GO Team, which requires traveling from one store to another. And that might be a concern since I take the bus. I applied for the cashier/CSR position in the store, and they didn't have anything available at the time.
Talbots: The job interview went well at this small woman's boutique shop. The store manager was nice and told them it was a replishment/fulfillment position with some stocking and organizing in the backroom. And due to transportation issues for weekends/nights, it wasn't an issue since it would be two to three times a week. I sent her a thank you email last Friday and a follow-up email today, waiting to hear back. I might have to call to follow-up next week.
Jos A Bank--only interested in seasonal. The manager tried to offer me the job, but we didn't go into details on hours and transportation issues or pay. So I said I would reapply after the seasonal period was over and passed.
Mens Warehouse--I had originally had an email invite last Saturday for a phone screen interview. This was before I accidentally screwed up my seasonal job, I've told her I was interested in permanent and had a phone interview on Monday. It never happened. She passed via email hours before since they were interested in hiring the seasonal position only.
Family Dollar: I have an interview a week from today for the cashier/CSR. This is what both Jamie and Danielle is concerned about, since they don't want me to do cashiering at this time. But when Danielle called, she said I could do it if I want to and I plan to. It's only 10 hours/2 days a week, and almost perfect for me. I emailed her the job description from the site, even if she's not going to join me for it. But I'll fill her in on it when I'm back.
Since I put everything on hold due to the kickoff party and the defunct seasonal job, I haven't scheduled any new interviews and had returned to following-up today and the rest on Monday. (She didn't say much about it when she called me.)
She also told me she's going to reach out to Summit DD and find out what they need and get back to me on it. I have her permission to contact them for me and try. I don't have any paperwork, other than report cards and other school stuff. So I'll talk to my brother this weekend to see if he had any paperwork from NJ on my disability diagnosis before I turned 22.
I also told her that some stocking job descriptions mention cashiering or cash registers. So I'll be cross-trained as a backup cashier. I'll send her some listings to show her what I mean next week via email or copy/paste, and underline and bold those words. There's no way around it either. And who knows, I might do well learning how to work the cash register with a practice shadow session.
That's it for this update. I'll check back tonight after dinner.

What so Tuesday Morning isn't interested in you anymore because of one day of confusion? That isn't fair. Work and transportation is difficult, I think you need to figure out if that or volunteering is your priority. I hope you aren't talking to all these people about your volunteer hours and so forth. They want your focus to be on them.

Thanks Snowy. Yeah. She told me I was out of the system since I didn't show up on Monday, and the bus wasn't authorized to take me to work (even on Monday). Monday was my first day of work for training and onboarding. Volunteering is just to gain employable skills and networking, which I have done a tiny bit. I just need to find the right work-life balance for part-time work. It had nothing to do with Tuesday Morning, since it didn't get that far in the verbal job offer two weeks ago. But Danielle and Jamie know from past discussions on being flexible for my availability. And I'm willing to be flexible and volunteer at the shelter/clinic at the zoo on the weekends if I have to, depending on my work schedule. As for the zoo, it all depends on those weekend nightly events as well, when I return to the zoo. And if I land the job at Marc's for the closing hour shift, it's doable.

If you want to do something, you should go for it and don't allow something like a disability stop you. Nor should you allow others dictate what you can and can't do . You need to make those decision.

Thanks Kayla. That's what I'm going to do as a cashier or a personal shopper (though it has nothing to do with stocking, but still fast-paced). That's why I applied I to various jobs last year, this winter, and even now, just to dip my toes into the water. I still wish I landed the Pet Supplies Plus job, though the heavy lifting is a huge barrier for me. I could always hope to try Pet Smart again as an AM Stocker with more open availability this time around.
