Happy 106th birthday to my mother

No. She's not still with us. But, today is still 106 years from her birth in 1916. My birthday was last month. She turned 39 a month after I was born and I was her only pregnancy. I didn't get a cake for me, so I decided to get one for both of us. It was delivered today. And, it's delicious!! Believe it or not, I got it from Amazon. It's not the same one I got last year. They were sold out of that one. But, it's excellent, just like that one was. Don't be afraid to try their baked goods. They ship frozen, so you get to thaw it at home. This one is Vanilla Bean with white chocolate mousse between the layers and white chocolate shaved candy all over it (with some obvious drizzle on top). I know Mom would love it if she were here. Then she'd invite all the neighbors over for a slice!! LOL

It is a beautiful cake and very well made. But, it's a tad sweet. I might just give the rest of it to my neighbor. There's half left.

Thanks. I tried to get one for me a month ago, but they didn't have any available (Amazon). As Mom's birthday approached, I decided to see if they had any I could order yet. They did and I got it.

When it comes to cakes, for sure I have memories. Some funny, some poignant, others very tasty. She loved eating and baking cakes AND worked for a bakery for years, so we always had baked goods in the house non-stop.

Mom birthday would be the 13th of December, she would turn 102 this year, she left us 4 years ago.

Wow! December was a good month! Mom passed in 2008, 19 days after her 92nd birthday. It doesn't seem that long. I still wish I could ask her questions about different things.

@LadyDuck I'm so sorry. Mom had emphysema. She outlived all expectations, but it wasn't easy.

@jerzgirl She lived 6 weeks after the stroke, but she was fully paralyzed. I know she did not want to live.
