While scrolling through my FB news feed I saw a post about the passing of tWitch. tWitch, whose real name is Stephen Boss, was a dancer (and judge) on So You Think You Can Dance, an actor in Step Up movies and Magic Mike movies, host of the Real Dirty Dancing, and part of the Ellen DeGeneres Show. He was only 40 years old. He left behind a wife and three children. I was shocked by this news and even more so when I read that he died of suicide. Whenever I saw him on TV or on social media there was never a feeling that something may be wrong. He always seemed happy, made people smile, and lit up the room. He was a bright light. And now he is gone. I wonder if anyone knew what he was going through, what he was battling that caused him to take his own life... You never really know what someone may be going through inside. Some people suffer but are really good at hiding it... We don't know what's going on and so can't help them fight through whatever it is they are experiencing. There are many reasons why someone will choose to end their life but perhaps one of these reasons is that they feel that the only way out is to end their life. And so they do it, which I think is not necessarily a sign of weakness because it takes guts to end it.
