I love having my boys home for the holidays. I love that Son2's intended is here, too. I loved our gift exchange last evening, and everyone seemed to enjoy the presents they received. We've had three great dinners over the last three nights since they arrived. Coco Vin prepared by Son2 and Future DIL Tuesday, Chicken Parmesan with Rissoto cooked by Son1 Wednesday, and my missus Mexican-style lasagna last night. Tonight, we'll feast on leftovers. All that said, having a houseful of family is not conducive to getting much writing done. Since my loft doubles as our extra guest room, it has been inhabited by Son1 for the last two days. I will get it back later today as Son2 and FDIL are flying to Dallas to spend Christmas day with her family. In the meantime, I've had to make do with my laptop on a lap desk while sitting in my recliner and trying to concentrate while the younger set plays video games and the missus frets over every little thing she can think of to avoid actually relaxing. My other option has been to turn on the small, portable heaters in the sunroom and come out here to write. With the recent renovation to the living room, we now have windows that open into the sunroom, and this helps with the warming. Right now, it's a balmy 65F/16C out here. How long it will stay comfortable out here with this Arctic Clipper blowing through is a matter of conjecture. Anyway, what I wanted to tell you is that since I've been banned from the loft and could not work on SETTING FRIDAY FREE, I have endeavored on another project to convert a story I posted in serial form on Kindle Vella into a Kindle Short Book. I am estimating it will finish at between 9 and 10 thousand words. On Vella, the story is titled, A SEVEN YEAR ACHE. This won't be the title of the short book when and if it gets published. I hope those of you subjected to this cold and the wintery weather accompanying it are safe and warm.

We had several days of really cold weather but it's warmer for the last two days, In the 50s today. I'm loving it. Sorry you're having trouble writing, maybe you can hang in for a few more days.

I actually had a couple of days to spend finishing up a project and was able to publish it to Kindle today. It's a KIndle Short Book and I wrote a post about it today.

@RubyHawk Yes, it is. This book is a short book and the first in a series, each of which will be set in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. The books will share some settings but will each stand alone.

@DWDavis That’s wonderful. It must be very satisfying to have your book published.

“Tell me you’re trying to cure the seven-year ache See what else this old heart can take” (“Seven-Year Ache,” Rosanne Cash) The writing can wait. The memories you’re making with family can’t.

I've often wondered what the difference between a Seven-Year Ache and a Seven-Year Itch is. You're right. Time with family is more important.

@DWDavis — simple. One’s a Rosanne Cash song, the other is a Marilyn Monroe movie. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

The balmy weather didn't last long. We fell into the low teens with 0F wind chill, and our power went out yesterday morning from 6:30 to 10:30. One thing we discovered - Our new Anderson windows made a huge difference in how slowly the house cooled down. After 4 hours with no heat, it was still 61F/9C in the house.

That's so nice that you have the family home even if it has impacted on your writing a little. All the kids will be gone soon enough, no doubt.

Son2 and FDIL left Friday afternoon. Son1 will be here until the end of the month.

Nothing like a good family get together! After our cold snap, it is quite warm now, but we didn't reach 16C

Our warm weather didn't last. We dropped into the "Your tauntaun won't last to the first marker" cold yesterday and are still there for the next day or so.
