Democracy - use of paper images to reach people

Here in India I saw our chief ministers 100 posters while travelling just 1 Km distance. To reach people means helping most of the people and not reaching people just by making of posters and posting out. This money spent on posters could have fed 100s here in Nagpur city. What do you think? Is propaganda by just printing medium emphasis correct in democracy? If people would have been fed with this money spent on posters then maybe the message would have reached more clearly.

That is one way as @UmiNoor has pointed out. Hopefully they will also promise some sops to voters.

They will make tons of promises during an election year but whether the promises are fulfilled is another thing. My country just had a national election and all the candidates promised a lot of things but as voters we must be discerning to see if these promises are plausible. And then vote accordingly.

@UmiNoor reaching people in democracy is therefore not about creating statues or posters. This can be only the communists part. You feel it! You heal it! You thus reach out.

Thanks for the comment, yes! It is ONE way. Just one way. But why it is the Only Major way in the whole of democratic world. Then how or why you say Kim is wrong making his statues. A democratic leader should lay emphasis on being known by his correct deeds more and less by posters or statues - same thing almost.

Perhaps that is the only way the candidate can reach people who may not have Internet connection. They need to get the word out otherwise nobody will know who they are and to approach each one of the people in the province will take time.

To reach people means to help most people. Not by propaganda but by means of good work alone you should reach max people in democracy. I think so. Democracy is all about service to others and thus reaching out to most. It is not about propaganda as in North Korea using posters and statues of Kim.

@Aakk77 It should go hand in hand. The politician should not only introduce himself through the posters but should also go out into the field to meet the people. That is what I think a politician should do. He cannot just rely on one method to win the hearts of his people.

@UmiNoor the major method should be helping out people which is almost inexistent here. But secondary methods like creating posters is over emphasised. You are right!

I agree with what @UmiNoor pointed out. In poor places that is the only way to reach out voters.
