Sports Talk: Upcoming Hockey World Cup 2023

In the coming month of January, India would play host to the Premier event of Field Hockey i.e
Hockey World Cup.
16 teams play against each other.
Belgium is the defending champion.
Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Spain and Argentina would be tough contenders.
India do also have a good chance provided that they are consistent.
It's in the Eastern Indian state of Odissa with the cities Bhubaneswar and Rourkela (an Industrial city)hosting the matches.
I am looking forward to the exciting event.

That would be so good for hockey in India. Our national team is a good one and they have proved it at recent Olympics. Hope they can make some history here too. Golden era of hockey in India has to return.

Yes I hope they do well.
Some challenges with the Indian team is that other teams often score late goals, an uninspiring overall record vs Australia and well, lesser conversion of penalty corners.
I hope that the current coach and the captain have plans for all these.

Yes. The tournament is about to begin.
Plus we have a new T 20 Captain in Hardik Pandya and SKY(Suryakumar Yadav) is the new Vice Captain.
K.L.Rahul and Virat Kohli do not look like to be in the scheme of T 20 anymore.
But well, that is a separate topic altogether.

Yes a miraculous escape. Just read a news that he has had a knee surgery.
Good news that India won the T 20 series vs Sri Lanka by 2-1 thanks to a 51 ball 112 not out by SKY - Suryakumar Yadav!!

Australia, Germany and Netherlands still dominate.
However, Argentina, Spain, Belgium and to some extent India too give tough fight now.

That could be the case, even though I have not noticed that.
Odisha has developed a lot of Hockey Infrastructure in the last 10 years.
That is so so good for Hockey in India!
