My Christmas day.

Earlier I told you about what I had for Christmas and my presents to self. I had breakfast which was porridge and a drink of green tea. Me and my Mum tried to work out the order and timing of cooking our Christmas dinners. We went to the Christmas morning service at Church. I walked down and saved a seat for my Mum and she got a lift down later with my step-dad. She arrived 5 minutes before it started. We had a tray of Cadbury's chocolates on our seats! Our chairs were arranged into small circles with a table in the middle of each. First we sang Happy Birthday to Leah Speight (the Pastors daughter) who was born on Christmas day and is 28 today. Then we sang a Christmas Carol then someone said a prayer. Bill Marks read what he called a poem but which was actually doggeral! It was total rubbish! It didn't scan, had too many syllables in most of the lines and sounded cornier than a beggars feet! I was glad when it was over because it was starting to make my ears bleed! We sang another carol. Then our Pastor, Steve, got the Youth Worker Conner and his fiance Hannah to come and sit on 2 chairs at the front. They were given minimal "costumes" to make them look like Mary and Joseph! Then we were given a scenario and were told to choose a word from a pile of words on pieces of card on tables in front of us. For example, imagine you are Mary. How would you feel if the Angel of the Lord came to you in a dream and said you were to be the mother of the Messiah? Then you took the piece of card with your chosen word on it, and they had string attached, and you hung the piece of card on either "Mary" or "Joseph". There were lots of "Scared", one "Frightened" and one "Annoyed". Another was imagine you were Jospeph, how would you feel if your fiance got pregnant outside of marriage and the baby wasn't yours, but you were told it was an immaculate conception? "Annoyed" "Doubt" "Unbelief". Imagine you were Joseph's parents and people in the community found out Joseph's fiance was pregnant and it wasn't his? "Judged" "Embarassed" etc. There were several of these types of scenarios. After that we sang another carol and then the kids were supposed to go up to the front to show what Christmas presents they'd had but there weren't many there. Either that or they were too shy to go. But you didn't have to be a child to go up. Anyone with a Christmas present with them could go up. Our Pastor Steve's son Sam, who is in his early 30's, showed us a calendar he'd got of scenes along the route of the M40! Not very scenic! One was of one of the motorway signs! There were two little lads who were brothers and they'd each had an electric guitar for Christmas! Relatively sized ofcause. The smaller lad's guitar was a bit smaller than the larger lad's guitar. Then there was Meghan who brought a selection of stuff including a doll and some nail varnish. And that was it. We sang one more Carol and then it was time to go home and get the Christmas dinner on. Mum wanted to go to the little Tesco which is next to the Church to try and get some sprouts, but it was closed, like I knew it would be. We got a lift home with our friend Dawn. We got the Christmas dinner on when we got back. Mum put the turkey in the oven for about 1 and 3/4 hours. It would be finished by 2:00pm. I would put my No-bangers in duvets (that's what they're called, not no-hog in duvets) in for the last 30 minutes of turkey cooking time, and then my salmon in for the last 18 minutes. (I put mine in the grill section which can also be used as an oven) Mum put the vegetables (minus sprouts!) in the microwave for 5 minutes at the end. Just as I was putting my salmon in, my brother, sister-in-law and little nephews came round with our presents and took theirs. They didn't stay long but asked us if it'd be alright for us to go round their house at 12:30pm tomorrow for a buffet lunch. When my salmon was done I dished it out on my plate with my no-bangers in duvets. Then I added vegetables, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire Pudding! I took my dinner into the dining room then took a glass and the bottle of non-alcoholic wine in. I was the first to start eating because Mum took a lot longer to dish out hers and my step-dad's. It was very delicious and the spicy salmon was great for Christmas. But Mum had forgotten to put some stuffing on so she told me to go and help myself to stuffing which I did. After I'd finished my Christmas dinner I went and got my dessert. A chocolaty moose type thing with orange flavoured stuff on top. It's got 6 servings and I scooped out just one. That was nice too. We watched the new King's first Christmas speech while we were eating our Christmas dinner. After I'd finished I went back into the living room and opened the presents from my brother, sister-in-law and nephews. I had bamboo socks and 2 Christmasy snowman mugs. I later found out I had a third present in the bag they'd brought them in. I opened that and it was a Doctor Who book! A Brief History of the Time Lords. I was really pleased with that! I watched some telly and when there was only a boring film on I read a book. I watched Michael McIntyre's Christmas Wheel and later I watched Call the Midwife and a very dramatic episode of EastEnders. But then EastEnders is always dramatic at Christmas! Then I went to bed and watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special The Snowmen with commentary on! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas. How was it? Did it go smoothly? Let me know all about your day.

I'm glad you also had a nice day. Yes, I did a bit of dozing too when I was sitting on the sofa watching telly.

Happy Christmas. Our day was quiet. We listened to the King's speech mid morning. I got out for a Christmas Snowshoe. We had a nice ham dinner. Your day sounds lovely.

Your day sounds lovely too. I hope you enjoyed your ham dinner. I'm getting fed up of this auto correct. It just turned my ham into jam!

Thank you very much. Yes, we did. I've since found out that my little nephews designed the mugs themselves!

We only went out for an hour to Church. The rest of the time we stayed in. My brother and sister-in-law went out for Christmas lunch with Ali's Mum. I hope you enjoyed your quiet Christmas in.
