A couple who were in Elk Washington on Tuesday afternoon saw a female moose who was struggling to stay afloat in the Little Spokane River. The name of the couple who called the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW)) about the moose being trapped on the river struggling to go free. An officer who is employed by the WDFW decided to attempt to rescue the moose in the river even though the risk of the WDFW official getting hurt was a possibility. The factor that led the WDFW official to ask for assistance from the Pend Oreille Fire Department to assist the WDFW Officer Severin Ericksen to work together to get the moose out of the danger zone by using a lasso on the moose, clear a channel of ice and drag the moose out of the frozen ice. After the moose rested for about a period of ten minutes, Officer Ericksen took the moose to reunite with her calf to safety. The best part of the rescue mission is that teamwork between the wildlife officials and the firefighters was successful in saving the life of both the moose and her calf.

With teamwork, every task is easier. Rescuing a moose is no easy task.

You are right since a moose is a huge animal to try to save in the first place.

Wonderful they could save the moose from the icy water. Hopefully she’ll stay off the ice after this experience.

The officials decided to save the moose since they were afraid that the couple who saw the moose in the river would attempt to rescue the moose and they would get hurt in the attempt.

@RubyHawk That is true since the wildlife officials did the right thing to rescue the moose instead of the couple trying to do it.

You are right since not many persons would bother to call the authorities to make an attempt to rescue the poor animal.

What a blessing, they rescued this female moose and reunited her with her calf! This would have been a tragic end, for both of them:(

That is very true since no wildlife official wants to see any animal drown in an icy river.

A moose is indeed a good looking creature that deserves to be saved by humans when they are in need of our assistance.
