Just before noon on November 13, 2022, a 911 call was received by the Latah County dispatch in Moscow, Idaho. It was reported that there was an unconscious person at the residence of 1122 King Road near fraternity row just blocks from the university.
Found stabbed to death were Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; Xana Kemodle,20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21; all students at the University of Idaho. Their bodies were found on the second and third floors of the house while two females, on the 1st floor, had not been attacked.
There have been 19,650 tips received by the Moscow police so far related to the yet-unsolved murder. They have conducted more than 300 interviews. It is believed that the victims were asleep when they were attacked between the hours of 3a. and 4a. that morning. Three of the attacked individuals were residents and one was visiting. Each victim had received several stab wounds and there was evidence that some had tried to defend themselves.
The only true lead in the murders is about a 2011-2013 Hyundai Elantra being in that area in the early morning hours of November 13th. The authorities believe that the people inside that vehicle may have critical information related to the case. No other information is available.
Starting tomorrow the residence will go through a thorough professional cleaning by a private company to remove any harmful substances or potential biohazards before being turned over to the property management company.

It is hard to conceive that after more than a month, the police still have no real leads in this case. Killing with a knife is a very personal, up-close way to take someone's life and normally results in a sizeable transfer of evidence. I can't help but think the first officers on the scene dropped the ball on this one and destroyed essential evidence through carelessness and incompetence.

I think it was someone they knew. There was no evidence of a break-in. I hate to think of possible incompetence, but, could be.

@celticeagle do you think the two surviving dorm mates could be a part of it. I just can't imagine them sleeping through the whole murder and not hearing anything.

@celticeagle I saw that on the news. I'm glad they found the person who did it. A criminology major to boot.

It's a strange case for sure. It seems that those who were murdered were targeted, since two people were left unharmed.
Do you know if there was a robbery also?
